An Unhealthy Commute: The Transit Challenges Facing New York City’s Healthcare Sector

A Panel Discussion

NYC’s transit crisis is taking a heavy toll on the city’s healthcare sector. A recent study by the Center for an Urban Future found that healthcare providers in New York City have the longest average commutes of workers in any field, and that slow and unreliable transit is affecting these critical caregivers and those they serve.

Since healthcare jobs are growing rapidly in the boroughs outside Manhattan – often beyond the reach of the subway – improving buses is a key strategy for improving healthcare workers’ commutes.

Join TransitCenter for a presentation by the Center for an Urban Future on the challenges documented in their report, and a panel discussion on strategies and opportunities to address them.

Panelists Include:

Jonathan Bowles, Executive Director Center for an Urban Future

Danna Dennis, Community Organizer Riders Alliance

Council Member Mark Levine New York City Council, District 7

Event is free and open to the public
