As transportation technologies continue to emerge and rider needs evolve, the concept of “Mobility as a Service” – integrated regional transportation networks with seamless multimodal trips and inter-connected payment systems – is being explored around the world and could help redefine public transportation. To achieve this vision, Finland recently revised its Transport Code to encourage public agencies and emerging mobility providers to work together. Here in the US, the Federal Transit Administration, in partnership with 11 transportation agencies across the country, is exploring this concept through its Mobility on Demand Sandbox Demonstration Program. Join TransitCenter as we host a panel of experts from the public and private sectors both in the US and Finland to explore how we can harness new business models and technology to improve public transportation and achieve better mobility for all.
