Advocates & Allies
TransitCenter invites you to the second event in our three-part series, All Transportation is Local, which delves into the content and recommendations from TransitCenter’s transportation policy guide for mayors and city leaders. Join us for our second installment: Advocates & Allies. For more information on the first installment, Parking is Powerful, see here.
Most successful transportation change happens when allies outside of government support initiatives by a mayor or other local leaders. City governments building strong alliances with grassroots groups, civic leaders, and businesses is a key recommendation from All Transportation is Local. Join TransitCenter, New York City Councilmember Brad Lander, Regional Plan Association’s Kate Slevin, and Active Transportation Alliance’s (Chicago) Ron Burke, to discuss successful government/civic alliances, the power of advocates becoming government officials, and how NYC can better use its local advocates to improve public transit.
Event is free and open to the public
