Transit agency board members play an essential role in shaping transit policies and priorities. Their decisions can have huge consequences for transit riding communities, and should be based on facts about the needs and experiences of riders. Still, many agencies are led by board members who rarely or never ride transit. Transit riders are disproportionately women and people of color, but agency boards are often made up of white men with little connection to communities their agencies primarily serve.
Join TransitCenter to hear from board members with advocacy careers and who represent transit-riding communities. Hear how this perspective shapes their leadership and strategies, and the importance for diversity among transit agency board members.
