COVID-19 has thrust transit agencies everywhere into a precarious position, with little clarity on how soon travel patterns and operational practices will go “back to normal.”
With experience from the SARS epidemic, Hong Kong was better positioned than most cities to respond quickly to COVID-19. But the city’s subway operator, MTR Corporation, is dealing with financial challenges related to the pandemic, as well as to pro-democracy demonstrations. The city’s mobility system faces an uncertain recovery period.
Join TransitCenter’s Stephanie Lotshaw in conversation with Professor Anthony Cheung of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) about Hong Kong’s recovery from the pandemic and its impact on mobility.
In conversation:
Stephanie Lotshaw, Program Director, Improving Agency Practice at TransitCenter
