Affordable Transit - TransitCenter

Affordable Transit

A Lunch Conversation with Dr. Christina Greer

Most cities around the U.S. have adopted transit fare polices that offer discounts to monthly pass buyers, people with disabilities, and seniors, but only a handful have explored income-based fares. Dr. Greer will join TransitCenter to discuss the social impacts of New York City Transit’s current fare policy, and the movement behind making New York City’s transit affordable. This conversation will highlight the potential benefits of such policies, and tradeoffs, if any, from investments in transit service.

Christina Greer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and the Department of American Studies, and Associate Chair of the Department of Political Science, Fordham University at Lincoln Center. Her research and teaching focus on American politics, black ethnic politics, urban politics, quantitative methods, Congress, New York City and New York State politics, campaigns and elections, and public opinion.
